Car Spotlight : Dan O'Brien's 14A
Editorial by Ross Ianson

"When Danny bought his late model S14a drifting was nowhere near the top of his agenda. In fact the car was inflicted with self-shifting slushbox so it was far from ideal as a potential competition car.  Competing in BDC semipro class, the S14a was the first and only UK car to compete with an automatic gearbox. Danny did remarkably well, considering the lack of clutch, finishing 6th overall and moving up to the pro class for the following year.  With the move up to pro class imminent, the slush-box had to go and a full roll cage was installed, as well as an aero package and a few choice mods to provide a little more power."

"Finally, after so many years of trial and error, Scott installed a K20A engine. For now, he's added only the essentials, like a custom intake, a Positive ID exhaust manifold, and a Thermal three-inch exhaust.  Looking back on his fun turbo days, he plans to boost the K engine in the near future.  He hopes to achieve 500 wheel horsepower."

After a second dyno session...the Integra produced a peak of 223whp with 153 ft lbs of torque."

Pow3r in Num8er5
Editorial by RC Faderoga

"At 335 horsepower to the wheels, the B16A and LSD trans in the engine bay are definitely something to behold.  Crafted with JDM Integra cams and a Spoon Sports 70mm throttle body, the Civic holds up to its JDM status.  The Garrett T3/T4 turbocharger providing boost, however, is downright classic Americana.  Working with a Peak Boost manifold and pipes, the turbo manages to get Troy's whip from Ruby Tuesday's to McDonald's in a time the people of The Golden Miles have never seen before."

Where's the Brotein Ma!?
Editorial by Sean Klingelhoefer

"We [Super Street] are proud to present you with some finely-tuned Nissans, owned by twin brothers, drom deep in the heart of Texas.  'Inspired by the JDM styling and drift scene, I wanted to build a 240SX that demands respect in both areas.'  Chris says about his slammed coupe.  The stance and wheel fitment combined with the body modifications truly look hard.  The engine was all but forgotten with a fresh blacktop SR swap in the bay and a GReddy TD06 25g snail blowing like no tomorrow.  This 240 is a straight bro-fessional quality ride."

"Under the hood is where all the beauty happens.  A typical SR20DET swap has been tossed in with all the bells and whistles imaginable.  Full-Race comes into play with their GT3071 top mount turbo setup fully equipped with twin scroll setup.  Forged rods along with a set of S15 pistons, HKS camshafts and BC valve springs make up the internals on the engine.  Helping pump out 434whp on pump gas is a GReddy intercooler, Koyo radiator, Walbro fuel pump, JGY Customs fuel rail and MSD 72# fuel injectors."

"Mikey and his DC2 have become a bit of a mainstay on popular web boards and are recognized mostly for their approachable demeanor and one-of-a-kind style, respectively.  Competition Clutch's Stage 3 clutch kit ensures that every last bit of torque is delivered to the low-offset Enkeis.  Of course, the engine bay is also tucked and the wiring's hidden.  Now, would you expect anything less from the Internet celebrity?"

Editorial by David Pratte

"The ScienceofSpeed AP2 Honda S2000 has all the right ingredients to be one of the fastest RWD tuner machines in the country.  When you see Moton shocks, a Stack dash, an eight-point rollcage and a fuel cell onboard, you know you're dealing with a zero compromise tuning philosophy.  We were certainly not disappointed to see what a gorgeous-looking machine BC Racing brought out to play, towing its awesome G35 coupe all the way from Florida short notice.  Nor were we disappointed to see the huge power numbers the Relentless-built engine produced, spinning the UMS Dynapack to the tune of almost 600 hp and 650 ft-lbs of torque."

Strip Terror (1993 Ford Mustang Dragster owned by Mike Murillo of Murillo Motorsports in San Antonio, Texas)

Editorial by Dave Pankew

"...Full-on strip terror with 3,000 or so ponies on tap (yes, you read that right) didn't take too long to happen.  Its mind-blowing power comes from a 541ci big block Ford V-8 built by Kotzu Racing Engines that's bolstered by a rather unusual twin-turbo setup.  By that I mean everything is not where you'd expect to find it.  The massive 88mm Precision turbos, for instance, are located in the rear along with a bevy of TurboSmart hardware like twin 50mm PowerGate wastegates, RacePort blow-off valves and a trick Bell air-water intercooler configuration."

"Forgotten and mistreated, this clean title 240SX started out as an abandoned husk.  Evans picked up the car and took it back to JE Import Performance, where it collected dust for a full year.  With no other immediate available ride, and a good S13 chassis at the ready, Evans went ahead and began the build on this 240SX.  After abusing the SR20 in drift competition for a year, Evans made the decision to step up to the heart of a GT-R, the RB26DETT engine.  With a purpose built interior, a reworked suspension, a downright mean body and the power to match, JE Import Performance's Nissan 240SX is perfectly set up for any competition, drifting or otherwise."

"This '93 Civic has been battered, bruised, blown up, rebuilt, revived, re-armed and re-animated.  Kordenbrock lusted for a turbo Honda and his fantasy became reality when this Civic materialized in New Jersey.  It was already a boosted LS/VTEC with built internals and valvetrain mods when he acquired it.  As is usually the case, the 9 psi of boost soon felt like two and it was time to increase the beast's boost.  [Brett] trapped [his] best mph at 20 psi (tuned again at 409-wheel hp and 310 lb-ft of torque)."
